Dancing the Laendler & My First Week of School

    Hey everyone!

Yikes! It's been awhile! This first week of school has been a little crazy, and something tells me this school year is not going to die down anytime soon, so I can't really keep the promise of posting everyday, but I will for sure try hard too!

So I've had a few more Sound of Music rehearsals since I last updated, and I've been slowly getting closer to the guy who plays the Captain, or "James" as I have dubbed him. If you haven't checked out my last two Sound of Music posts, I highly recommend you do for context! It's sort of become its own mini blog series which consists of me fangirling over being in The Sound of Music and my struggles of trying to pursue the guy who plays Captain von Trapp.

So last rehearsal, James, who is a pretty distant guy, and I got a lot closer because we learned how to dance the Laendler. In case you don't know the show, the Laendler is an Austrain Waltz that Maria (my character) and the Captain dance, in which Maria realizes her feelings for the Captain (topical). While learning the dance I think for sure he warmed up to me a bit more! I'm a pretty clumsy person, and I kept stepping on his feet- oops!

I have rehearsal tonight, and although we aren't revisiting the dance for another two weeks, I'm still going to try to talk to him and get closer.

In other, less exciting (although that wasn't really exciting news), I finished my first week of school. Honestly, it was pretty anticlimactic, and the novelty of being a senior wore off pretty fast. Pretty much all of my friends were seniors last year, and they just graduated this past spring, so they aren't at school anymore. It's definetly a lot lonelier, and I keep seeing the backs of people's heads and thinking that they're my friends, and when they turn around I realize it isn't them. Pretty depressing, I know. Thankfully, Sound of Music rehearsals have given me the chance to make some new friends.

I'm becoming a lot closer with the girl who plays Liesl (let's just call her Courtney), and we actually went out for lunch together this weekend. It was a lot of fun, and we have a lot of similar interests and opinions when it comes to theatre. James' friend who plays Rolf (let's call him Daniel) is also pretty cute, and so Courtney and I have sort of devised a plan so that we can hang out all four of us.

Sorry this was a pretty pathetic post. I'll post a new bootleg on the bootleg page, and I'll try to post tomorrow!
